Volkswagen Samba Kombi Bus - Sealing Wax Red

This is the 2nd time that I have painted this fun vehicle. I originally photographed him during my first solo exhibition at Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in 2016. That was 8 years ago. 

I painted the vehicle in a cheerful blue and focused more on the vehicle than the surroundings. The original canvas size was 36"x36". Since then, my style has evolved. I have learned how to give a hint of landscape and add more reflections and detail. 

This painting is 48"x48" and true to the original bus color of Sealing Wax Red. I painted most of the grass and trees using my fingers and palms. Something I just adore doing with larger paintings.

You can see this painting at my 5th solo exhibition at the Grand Bohemian Gallery, St. Augustine, Florida. Opening night is March 1. I'll also be photographing at Amelia Island Concourse that weekend for future paintings. Hope to see you there!
