"Pedal to the Metal"

I photographed these fabulous vintage pedal cars during a few hour break while visiting Amelia Island Concours in 2024. My husband and I went to a local car museum, and these toy cars were nestled in the back. Due to limited space, these cars were crowded together and gave the impression of a tight traffic jam. The blue car in the center stood out to me because of the vibrancy and being boxed in on all sides. We have all felt this way not only in traffic, but with the complexities of life. Surrounded by all sides, and patiently waiting for our turn to move in a direction. We just need a clear path.
I created two complimentary paintings of the same size using the blue car as the focal piece. They are Bumper to Bumper and Pedal to the Metal. Both were created on 48”x48” cotton canvases using my fingers, palms, brushes and the highest quality acrylic paints. They are varnished with UV/UVA sealant, signed, and include a Letter of Authenticity. They were painted side by side so I could get the same coloring for each piece. They are unique alone or would make a wonderful pair for collectors that love nostalgia, vintage toys, bold color, and a sense of whimsy. I loved painting these.
